Strategic Management

 

This course focuses on the strategy of the firm, examining issues central to its short-term and long-term competitive position. Participants are placed in the role of key decision makers and asked to address questions related to the creation or retention of competitive advantage. The initial focus is on industry analysis and identifying opportunities for competitive advantage followed by recognition of firm specific capabilities or core competencies that contribute to competitive advantage. This is followed by exploring ways to use those distinctive competencies to establish sustainable competitive advantage(s) in the marketplace are studied. Throughout, different techniques, tools, and approaches necessary for identifying a company’s key factors for success are considered. This is a case-based course, and participants will research and formulate a thorough environmental analysis and strategic plan as a requirement for this course.

 

Program description

  • This four-week course is taught online.

  • There will be two one-hour sessions per week.

  • Attendees will be asked to participate in the forum and submit weekly assignments.

  • Upon completion of the program, each attendee will receive a Verifiable Certificate of Completion from our institution.
